Welcome to the first Keep FiiT Friday! This series will usually be hosted by my friend Amanda Goff, but I wanted to post today. 🙂

I’ve been working on losing weight and getting healthy for nearly a year. I started in June of 2013. At first, the main thing was going gluten free. I almost started doing the GAPS diet, but I was really scared of doing it. In my research about GAPS, I found and then started following something called the *Perfect Health Diet (aka PHD). It’s similar to the Paleo diet or the Primal diet. I removed things that they recommend be removed, but I still haven’t added the things they recommend be added. (Disclaimer: there are things about cavemen dieting, millions of years ago, etc. I do NOT hold to this belief. I have just found this “diet” to be so natural compared to other things out there, and it’s working for me.)

Here is the image of the PHD plate, which links to their website:

Microsoft PowerPoint - Food Plate.pptThe things that I sometimes “cheat” on are legumes (I only get organic beans now, and wash them several times), and I eat organic corn chips sometimes. On REALLY bad cheat days, I have had ice cream and even gluten!! Sigh, bad Jenn! If I had no cheat days at all, I’m sure I would have lost much more weight than I have in the past year! But I’m still getting there.

Here are the photos from last June, to this month, April 2014.

The other reason (besides cheating) I haven’t lost more is that I haven’t been exercising much (like, at all). That is changing! Starting this week, I’m committing to do exercises at least 3 days a week. I’ve done them 2x this week so far. WOOT! Since I don’t do well with super hard stuff, I have no time to leave the house to go to a gym, or go to my friend’s Devoted Fitness program, I use youtube! RefitRev has great options to use, so I have made my own playlist using them.

Here it is, if you’re interested!

So, here is my challenge to myself:
NO white sugar. NO gluten. NO wheat. No exceptions.
No corn or legumes that are not organic.
Exercise 3x a week.
Drink 2 water bottles a day.

I may add more. We’ll see. 🙂

I have been super blessed to also have the *Mom Conference videos to listen to this week as well. Today’s awesome casts include

  1. You’re doing great! I started my weightloss journey on 9/8/13, and have lost 65 lbs so far. I am not following a special diet though. I just eat less and move more. *lol* … I workout using my Leslie Sansone workout videos, plus I work 40 hours a week on my feet…. It seems to be working for me. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Julie!! Have you posted any before/after pics? I’m so proud of you – that is amazing. 🙂 I know you have always been really active at home, cleaning and running after kids. But something about purposeful moving really makes a diff, huh?!
